Rajasthan at your fingertips
Day 1
We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. If covid testing on arrival is still a requirement, we will have to wait at the airport for test results. When we arrive at the hotel, we will rest and freshen up before we head out for some sightseeing. Depending on how much time we have, we’ll be sure to show you the best of Delhi! In the evening, there is a pub close to the hotel if we would like to raise a glass to the start of our tour.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will hit the road to drive to Jaipur. The journey takes around 6 hours, but we will stop for snacks and toilet breaks on the way. On arrival in Jaipur, we’ll check into our heritage palace hotel and rest before the evening activities. Our hotel has a pool, and the weather will be hot! In the evening, we have a very exciting dinner planned – a traditional Rajasthani feast with a side of traditional Rajasthani music.
Day 3
Today, we’ll be guided around the major landmarks of Jaipur and the Pink City. We’ll visit the marvellous Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the Pink City. The rest will depend on our energy levels and timings. After some time to relax at the hotel, we will venture out again for a Bollywood movie screening at the famous Raj Mandir cinema; English subtitles may not be available but, the essence and experience is not to be missed!
Day 4
After breakfast, we will drive to Ranthambore National Park. The journey takes around 4 hours, with the views improving as we leave the city and approach the national park! When we arrive at the resort, we have plenty of time to relax before setting off on an evening safari in search of tigers! We are staying in tents here, so you have a nice porch area to read your book in peace, or you can swim.
Day 5
Today, we have a very early start as we head out for another safari. We will take our breakfast with us and eat it in nature. When we get back to the resort, the whole day is free to relax. At night, we will light a bonfire and enjoy our dinner around the fire!
Day 6
After breakfast, we will drive to Pushkar, a small, holy lake town and popular backpacker destination. Our hotel is a ten-minute walk from Pushkar lake. The lake is surrounded by shops, rooftop cafes, and restaurants. It’s easy to spend hours people-watching in Pushkar: the town is a famous pilgrim spot and pilgrims take a dip in the lake to cleanse their sins. The lake looks beautifully decorated by the vibrant coloured sarees worn by female devotees. You’ll have lots of free time today, but we will go to Pushkar Lake together for dinner in the evening.
Day 7
After breakfast, we will set off on a half-day walking tour of Puskar. First, we will visit the Brahma temple, which is the only one in India, then we will walk around the lake to learn about each of the ghats. Finally, we will participate in a Puja (traditional Hindu ritual) at the lake with a Brahmin priest. In the evening, we will watch the Aarti ceremony – an offering of chants, incense, and fire to the Gods.
Day 8
Today, the whole day is free to explore and enjoy Pushkar in any way that you like. You could go hiking, do a cooking class, learn silversmithing, get pampered in a beauty salon, have a massage, go shopping, or just relax in a café with a coffee and a book. I’ll provide more details of free time activities in Pushkar closer to the time and can help with directions and booking when needed.
Day 9
After breakfast, we will drive to Jodhpur – the Blue City. The journey will take around 5 hours. In the afternoon, we will walk around the vibrant blue city. For dinner, you have the option to go to a rooftop restaurant with a spectacular view of Mehrangarh Fort.
Hotel: Krishna Prakash Heritage Haveli
Day 10
Today, we will visit a rural village outside Jodhpur for a full day of exploration and cultural activities. We will go on a jeep tour of the village to meet the local pottery makers, eat lunch made on the open fire, try on traditional Rajasthani clothes, and much more!
Hotel: Krishna Prakash Heritage Haveli
Day 11
After breakfast, we will drive to Jaisalmer. The journey will take around 5 hours. We will be staying in a tent right on the dunes. At sunset, we will go on a camel ride in the desert, and for dinner, we will ride farther out into the dunes to eat dinner out in the open desert.
Day 12
After breakfast, we will head to Jaisalmer for a tour of the ancient fort, stopping on the way at an abandoned village. In Jaisalmer, we'll have plenty of time to explore the city and enjoy the views. For dinner, we'll enjoy a view of the fort before boarding an overnight train back to Delhi.
Overnight train to Delhi
Day 13
We’ll wake up leisurely (hopefully) and spend most of the day on the train – think card games, reading a book, watching movies, or watching the world go by, unlimited cups of chai, and endless snacking. By the late afternoon, we will arrive in Delhi and head directly to the hotel for a delicious shower and a proper toilet! For dinner, we will go to the local pub and celebrate our last night of the tour.
Day 14
Departure day: we will drop you at the airport in time for your flight. If covid testing is still a requirement, we will arrive at the airport early so that you can get your test before departure.
