An unforgettable experience
Day 1
Airport pick up and transfer to the hotel to relax for a while. In the afternoon we’ll head out to do some sightseeing. We’ll definitely visit India Gate, everything else will depend on how much time we have. In the evening we’ll have dinner at the hotel. An early night is encouraged before a long train journey the following day!
Day 2
An early wake-up call – for our train to Amritsar! The train takes around 8 hours so we’ll have breakfast and lunch on board. Once we arrive at the hotel we can relax and enjoy the rooftop swimming pool. In the evening we’ll visit Jalian Walah Bagh and the Golden Temple.
Day 3
After breakfast, we will visit a small Punjabi village where we will experience the true essence of Punjabi culture. We’ll assist with their daily chores such as milking cows, riding a tractor and cooking on a chulha. We will try on Turbans and have a go at Bhangra dancing. In the evening we will go to the India & Pakistan border closing ceremony.
Day 4
Another early morning train ride as we depart Amritsar and head to Rishikesh. The train journey takes around 8 hours with an additional hour drive in a private minibus after the train. Once we arrive in Rishikesh you will have free time to explore before we meet again for dinner.
Day 5
There is an optional yoga class in the hotel which you can attend before breakfast. After breakfast, we will take a small hike up into the jungle to a temple where we will have a puja (fire) ceremony. After puja, we will have lunch at one of the most famous ashrams in Rishikesh. In the afternoon we will visit the Beatles Ashram where the Beatles stayed in the 70s. For the rest of the day, you are free to explore.
Day 6
Mountains and sunrise! We’ll set off early from our hotel and drive out of Rishikesh, up and up to a temple at the top of a mountain to enjoy the sunrise. There is a 250-step climb up to the temple. After sunrise, we will return to the hotel for breakfast and then drive to a beautiful three-tiered waterfall nearby. The climb to the top tier is approx—1 km. After enjoying the waterfalls for some time we will have lunch together and then the rest of the day you have free time.
Day 7
Before breakfast, there is the option to do a yoga class in the hotel. After breakfast, we’ll drive 25km from Rishikesh to a campsite where we’ll spend 24 hours relaxing in nature and enjoying the mountain and river views. Our campsite is accessible by a private bridge and we will be right next to the River Ganges.
Day 8
We will have breakfast at the campsite and then depart back to Rishikesh. Today is a free day with plenty of activities to choose from – more waterfalls, massage, rafting, cooking class, and relaxing in a coffee shop by the river.
Day 9
Another early wake-up call – for our train ride to Agra! This train is around 9 hours so we will travel on a sleeper train. This means you have the option to lie down or sit up. Bring a book, relax and get comfortable! When we arrive in Agra we will go to a rooftop restaurant for dinner with a view of the Taj Mahal.
Day 10
An early morning trip to the Taj Mahal to avoid the crowds! After spending a few hours in awe at the masterpiece, we’ll get into the minibus to return to Delhi. Before checking into the hotel, we will take one final adventure; a rickshaw tour of the bustling Old Delhi. There is a pub close to our hotel if you would like to raise a glass for this trip.
Day 11
Departure day. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight home.
