Arrive in Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital, where glittering temples rise alongside modern skyscrapers and the Chao Phraya River winds its way through the city. You’ll be greeted by your local guide and transferred to your riverside hotel. The evening is free to relax or wander the lively neighbourhood, soaking in the atmosphere at your own pace.

We’ll uncover the heart of Bangkok today, beginning with a cruise through the peaceful Thonburi canals on a traditional long-tail boat. We’ll then explore the Grand Palace, the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, and Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn. As evening falls, we’ll ascend the Mahanakhon Skywalk for breathtaking panoramic views across the city.

This morning, we’ll journey outside the city to experience two of Thailand’s most famous markets. At the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, colourful boats overflow with tropical fruits and local delicacies. We’ll continue to the unique Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors swiftly fold away their stalls as trains roll right through – an unforgettable sight.

After breakfast, we’ll travel by road to Kanchanaburi, a town steeped in history. Here we’ll visit the iconic River Kwai Bridge, the atmospheric Krasae Cave, and the moving JEATH War Museum, which offers deep insight into the region’s wartime past.

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in natural beauty at Erawan National Park, where crystal-clear waters tumble over seven tiers of waterfalls surrounded by jungle. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the poignant Hellfire Pass Memorial, honouring those who worked on the Thai–Burma Railway.

After breakfast, we’ll make our way to Ayutthaya to explore Thailand’s former capital, where atmospheric ruins and crumbling temples tell stories of a grand past. After spending the day exploring Ayutthaya Historical Park, we’ll board the overnight train to Chiang Mai, settling into a sleeper berth for the night.

We’ll arrive in Chiang Mai and enjoy breakfast at a local café before checking in to our hotel. After some time to rest, we’ll head out in the afternoon to visit the magnificent Doi Suthep Temple, perched high on a mountain with sweeping views of the city. Chiang Mai is a great city to explore, and in the evening, I recommend enjoying a foot massage or a full-body Thai Massage.

We’ll begin the day at Wat Suan Dok before exploring artisan villages, home to traditional crafts. Lunch will be enjoyed at a charming garden or riverside restaurant. In the afternoon, there’s the option to join a Thai cooking class to learn the secrets of the country’s cuisine. In the evening, we’ll gather for a khantoke dinner, a northern Thai feast accompanied by a cultural show.

We’ll journey through winding mountain roads to Pai, a laid-back town surrounded by natural beauty. Along the way, we’ll stop at scenic coffee viewpoints and the historic Pai Memorial Bridge. On arrival, we’ll settle into our hotel before visiting Wat Phra That Mae Yen, offering peaceful views over the valley, and then explore Pai’s lively night market.

Today, we’ll explore Pai at a relaxed pace. Highlights include Wat Nam Hu, Santichon Village – a Yunnanese Chinese community – and Lod Cave, an impressive limestone cavern. We’ll also visit a nearby hill tribe village to gain insight into traditional life.

We’ll set out on a scenic drive towards Mae Salong, pausing in Chiang Dao for lunch. Upon arrival, we’ll explore tea plantations and the fascinating Santi Khiri Village, a community shaped by Yunnanese heritage.

We’ll continue our journey to the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand and Laos meet. In Chiang Saen, we’ll explore the ancient city and its atmospheric temples before visiting the fascinating Opium Museum. Later, we’ll take a boat ride along the Mekong River, admiring the landscapes along the Thai and Lao banks, before settling into our Chiang Rai hotel.

We’ll spend the day exploring Chiang Rai’s most striking sights: the dazzling White Temple, the mystical Blue Temple, and the thought-provoking Black House Museum. Later, you’ll have time to enjoy the riverside cafés or browse the night market.

On our way back to Chiang Mai, we’ll stop at Singha Park, known for its beautiful landscapes and flower fields. In the evening, we’ll enjoy time at Chiang Mai’s vibrant night market for shopping and street food.

After breakfast, our tour officially ends in Chiang Mai. You may want to spend an extra few days here, or you can book a flight back to Bangkok. If you’d prefr to return to Bangkok by train, we can book this for you.
A non-refundable deposit is required to book a place on the tour.
The final balance is due 2 months before the tour on the 15th of November 2026.
